Tja, wir sind wieder im Hafen, weil wir ein "klitzekleines" Problem mit der Ankerwinsch haben. Wir haben schon die letzten Male bemerkt, dass die Winsch beim Anker auf gehen nicht mehr so läuft wie sie sollte. Erstens wird sie immer langsamer, zweitens stoppt sie zwischendurch und dann muss man 2-3 Umdrehungen per Handkurbel drehen, dann läuft sie wieder und drittens funktioniert die Handfernbedienung direkt am Ankerkasten schon eine ganze Weile nicht mehr. So der Stand, als wir zum Ankern rausgefahren sind. Dort wurden wir an unserem ersten Ankerplatz von der Surfschule gebeten, woanders zu ankern, da wir mitten im Surfkurs lagen (das konnten wir hinterher gut beobachten). Daraufhin mussten wir Ankerauf gehen und uns einen neuen Platz suchen. Beim zweiten Anlauf lagen wir dann zu dicht auf einer anderen Yacht und sind nochmal Ankerauf gegangen. Beim dritten Mal lagen wir dann richtig.
Aber die drei (im Hafen hatten wir auch den Anker raus) Ankerauf Manöver wurden jedesmal schwieriger und langwieriger. Rainer braucht echt kein Fitness-Studio...! Daher war klar, dass wir (Rainer) die Winsch ausbauen müssen und mal sehen, was da zu machen ist. Das hätte man sicher auch vor Anker machen können, aber ich wollte dafür gerne in den Hafen und dort dann einen der Längsseitsplätze nahe der neuen Marina ergattern, damit wir keinen Anker benötigen. Das hatten wir dann auch mit Giotta, die im Hafen die Gebühren kassiert, aber auch im Restaurant von ihrem Bruder hilft, welches direkt an besagter Mole liegt, geklärt. Wir haben dann in weiser Voraussicht fast eine Stunde vor der geplanten Zeit mit dem Ankerauf Manöver begonnen - welches wir dann in reiner Handarbeit durchführen mussten. 70 m Kette und ein 45 kg Anker - mehr muss ich dazu wohl nicht sagen. Das Manöver hat gute 40 Minuten gedauert, danach war Rainer schweißgebadet und hat erst mal geduscht bevor wir in den Hafen sind.
Jetzt liegen wir wieder im Hafen von Vasiliki und diesmal ganz dicht an der neuen Marina.
Kleines Update zur Marina-Situation: Wie wir erfahren haben, wurde die Marina bereits vor ca. 10 Jahren gebaut, aber nie in Betrieb genommen. Da der Bau mit Hilfe von EU-Gelder erfolgt ist, gibt es jetzt wohl eine Frist von einem Jahr, um die Marina in Betrieb zu nehmen, sonst müssen die Gelder zurückgezahlt werden.
Wir haben uns mit einigen Einheimischen unterhalten, ob sich jeder für den Betrieb melden könnte. Uns gefällt die Gegend, hier ist einiges los und die Infrastruktur scheint auch zu stimmen. Wir werden das mal genauer beobachten...
Die Idee lässt uns nicht los, aber wir müssen da noch weiter schauen.
Well, we are back in port because we have a "tiny" problem with the windlass. We have already noticed the last few times that the windlass no longer runs as it should when the anchor goes up. First, it gets slower and slower, second, it stops in between and then you have to turn 2-3 turns by winch handle, then it runs again and third, the hand remote control directly on the anchor locker has not worked for quite a while. That was the status when we went out to anchor. There, at our first anchorage, we were asked by the surf school to anchor somewhere else because we were in the middle of a surf course (we could observe this well afterwards). Thereupon we had to go anchor up and look for a new place. At the second attempt we were too close to another yacht and had to anchor up again. The third time was a charm.
But the three (in the harbor we also had the anchor up) anchor up maneuvers were each time more difficult and lengthy. Rainer really does not need a gym...! Therefore it was clear that we (Rainer) have to remove the windlass and see what can be done. This could have been done at anchor, but I wanted to go into the harbor and get one of the long side berths near the new marina, so we wouldn't need an anchor. We had it then also clarified with Giotta, who collects the fees in the port, but also helps in the restaurant of her brother, which is located directly at said pier. We then started in wise foresight almost an hour before the scheduled time with the anchor up maneuver - which we then had to perform in pure manual labor. 70 m chain and a 45 kg anchor - I don't think I need to say more about that. The maneuver took a good 40 minutes, after which Rainer was drenched in sweat and took a shower before we entered the harbor.
Now we are back in the harbor of Vasiliki and this time very close to the new marina.
Small update on the marina situation: As we learned, the marina was built about 10 years ago, but never put into operation. Since the construction was done with the help of EU money, there is now probably a deadline of one year to put the marina into operation, otherwise the money has to be paid back.
We talked to some locals to see if anyone could sign up to run it. We like the area, there is a lot going on here and the infrastructure seems to be in place as well. We'll keep a closer eye on it...
The idea won't let us go, but we'll have to look further into it.
